My Cheap Vintage Finds [& What They’re Worth] #168
Hi everyone!  My post is rather brief today. I’m not sure what happened to all the hours in my day, yesterday. I was tied up with all kinds of “stuff” and time just got away from me. As I’m sitting here writing this post, I can’t even remember what the stuff was, but it must have been important, right?!! Does that ever happen to you? The day just runs away with itself, and you’re left with moments instead of hours to complete the task before you (lol). Thanks for being patient with me, friends. Let’s take a look at some vintage finds, shall we?
An adorable ceramic bunny rabbit (cost: $3.00, value: $12-15.00). Available.
A tiny china vase, made in Japan (cost: 25¢, value: $2-3.00).
An illustration from a garden book (below). I sell a lot of gardening and garden-related books in the spring–old and new.
The Illustrated Garden Book, filled with beautiful watercolor illustrations (and some photographs), it is organized by months of the year (cost: $1.00, value: $10-12.00). Original cost in 1986: $22.50.
The Encyclopedia of Herbs & Their Uses (cost: $1.00, value: $15-20.00). Published in 2001 with 443 pages, it originally cost $40.00. [Weird reflection off the cover–]
It’s filled with hundreds of illustrations.
Another giant tome, this one with 372 pages and published in 2000 (cost: $1.00, value: $12-15.00). Unfortunately, it has some water damage on the last 75 pages or so that I only discovered after I purchased it.
Treasury of American Gardens, a 1956 look at gardens around the country (cost: $1.00, value: $10-12.00).
A seriously fabulous book filled with over 600 black and whites, 300 of them never-before published (cost: $1.00, value $15-20.00). Published in 2003 for $45.00. Available.
A pair of red books from a series of some sort (cost: free, value: $5-6.00 each). I think I’ve mentioned before that red books are great for decorating.
A great scarf for making gift bags (cost: $1.50). I can make about four or five bags with this one scarf.
A pair of darling children’s mittens for a Christmas project of some sort (cost: 50¢).
A white leather belt that has already been turned into a bracelet. See other belts that have suffered the same fate here and here.
Final Find: A J.Crew belt that looks wonderfully farmhouse-y to me (cost: 99¢). Can’t you picture it wrapped around a storage bin or basket as an accent? I’ll be on the hunt for the perfect specimen to use it on now.

Always love seeing your finds Diana. Love the bunny…I’ve been looking in the thrift stores for one, but it has to be small for a project I’m doing. Glad to know you can sell books…they are a slow seller for me. I want to learn how to make belts…

Love your idea to use the belt to tie around something. A basket of the right size would work. I’ll be looking for a belt now. LOL
I am with you on the J.Crew belt idea. One of my favorite and longed-for baskets was a large Pottery Barn basket that had leather straps around it. By the time I had enough git cards to buy it (Christmas and birthday gifts) they no longer sold it! I tried making one of my own and it was an epic fail.
