Testing [My Fabulous] New Stencils
Hi everyone! I had a fun-filled week-end with some garage-saling, crafting, and celebrating. One of my favorite annual neighborhood sales is always held the third week-end in May: the Woodlawn Sale (Schenectady, NY). I shopped on Friday and Saturday. In between, I used my brand new Consumer Crafts stencils, and Saturday evening we celebrated my sister’s birthday.
I stenciled this white-washed terra cotta pot with “No 1,” filled it with herbs, and gave it to my sister for her birthday.

I stumbled upon Consumer Craft’s online store last week and their low prices impressed me. Each of these stencils cost $5.00, much lower than I found anywhere else. My local craft stores didn’t have any French inspired choices, and that’s what I was looking for.
I achieved three slightly different looks by leaving out some of the extra curly ques. I like the plain one the best (far left), and gave that one to my sister. I get to keep the one on the right. I filled them with basil, oregano, and rosemary.
After finishing my pots, I dug through my workroom to find more junk beautiful objects to stencil. I had set aside this interesting, oval bread board for just such a project as this. It came out beautifully, in part, because of a terrific stenciling trick I just read about: don’t use special stenciling brushes to apply the paint…
After the paint dried, I applied some Rust-Oleum stain (Maple) over the entire board.
And then hung it over my bread board collection. (The lighting in this part of my kitchen is tricky due to the light coming in beside it through the sliding glass doors, but you get the idea.)
You may remember I recently bought a trio of vintage cupboard doors at the Albany ReStore. I decided to remove the hardware from one and stencil the center. I’m thinking about attaching vintage spoons on either side to cover up the two holes left when I removed the handle. I could also put some knobs along the bottom so it could be used as a hanging rack. What do you think?
Thanks so much for stopping by today!

Wow. And spelled backwards it's still woW. I am going to visit Consumer Craft right now! Can't beat the prices or the fonts!
I totally love the fancy No 1! Very nice job.
Thanks for the stenciling tip! I shall use that one. Your vignette and your stenciled pots look beautiful.

What a fabulous site! I just ordered 3 different stencils. I have been wanting to get back into stenciling….did it in the 80's on every surface I could find! Going to try your sponge trick too. Thanks for sharing!
These look awesome! I want a pot like that with herbs in it. Love the stencils and you know I love anything Paris!!
I am wild about stencils right now. I will check out the site. Love your pots.
I've known about that site but never looked at their stencils. Ok, I need too! Love how your projects turned out.
These are just too fantastic! I love the look that it gives those planters! You have outdone yourself friend! I want to try this with my herbs!! Happy week to you!!! And thank you for this inspiration! Nicole xo
Very pretty, Diana! I love the breadboard! I love those stencils, too, and am getting ready to do some projects with them! Thanks for the sponge hint!
Wow, I love these… the flower pots and breadboard are my favorite! That's a great price for stencils, I'll keep them in mind!
Tania
That bread board is awesome! You could probably sell it for a pretty penny (but I'd want to keep it!) I'm a sucker for French stencils, always have been, Great prices, they're usually pretty expensive. I already buy those sponges, I'll have to try them on my next project. And I have whitewashing pots on my list of things to do….so many projects, so little time:)

Diana,
How pretty the pots are with the stencils. Love all your bread boards and now the new sign.
Have a great week.
Kris
Bread boards are great for stencilling. I am experimenting with stencils on bread boards with good results too. Love yours. Pinned.
I love stencils, they're so much easier than cutting vinyl and they're so versatile too. Love your creations. Thanks for sharing them at Vintage Inspiration Party.
Hi Diana, why couldn't you stencil a flourish around the edge of the Café de Paris sign and just strategically cover the holes with the stencil paint in doing so? Also, thanks for the dates and tipping everyone of the T Linen sale. Looks like a great place to pick up quality bedding and buy gifts.
Oh, forgot to state, your stenciled items came out great, really makes a statement on everything you do.
Lovely!
Thanks for sharing at Something to Talk About each week 🙂
