I’ll Have Blue Christmas, Please
Hi everyone–three days until Christmas! Today I’ll be making sauce and meatballs for Christmas Eve lasagna. What are you up to? A couple of days ago I finally had time to put together a display using a pair of light blue, fur trimmed (vintage, of course!) skates I purchased at a garage sale this past fall for just a dollar.
I paired it with this cute little blue snow shovel I picked up over the summer for just fifty cents.
The sled was another garage sale find. I bought a pair of them for $5 each a couple of years ago.
I discovered the “Wish” sign at Dollar General for $1.
Can’t you picture a young girl wearing these skates, with her long woolen coat and fur muff? She and her friends are skating on a frozen pond surrounded by snow-covered pines. There’s a fire crackling on shore and cups of hot chocolate waiting for them. I have to admit, I’m happy to “see” them from my comfy chair in front of my own crackling fire–inside my snug house.
Thanks so much for dropping by!

Oh my! Blue skates! Such a wonderful find…makes me want to paint a pair blue! Hope you have a blessed Christmas, Diana!
What a wonderful display! I'm picturing the ice skating scene from The Bishop's Wife with Cary Grant and Loretta Young, one of my favorite Christmas movies. Those skates are beautiful!
Have a very Merry Christmas Diana, and blessings to you, Deborah
Those skates are to die for!! Love your little vignette! I will be making sauce and meatballs tomorrow and lasagna on Wednesday for Christmas Day. My lasagna is so much better a day later! Baking some more cutouts today….my son's favorite and there just aren't enough! Been thrifting too! Hitting the local Goodwill and VOA. Merry Christmas!
Hi Diana! OH, what a cute display and I'm loving those darling fur topped skates! And they're baby blue! I was so excited because the folks we bought our new/old home from left a sled in the garage and I couldn't wait until Christmas to decorate it! Now I need some skates! Have a blessed Christmas with you and your family and hopefully we can get together after the new year begins!
Be a sweetie,
Shelia 😉
I have fallen in love with those blue skates!
That's a great display! I've been in the kitchen for the last three days straight, baking and cooking, pressing linens and doing all sorts of last minute prep for my Christmas Eve family dinner. I made 4# of chicken strips primarily to free space in the freezer; felt it was too long to expect freshness for Wed, so we've been eating those, and I gave some to each of my girls. I make so much food it's crazy. Everybody knows to bring their own go boxes, lol. Your lasagna sounds really good – enjoy, and Merry On!
I can so picture a young girl in those skates! What a beautiful vignette you have created here friend! And we eat lasagna too!!! Wishing you a very MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and yours! Nicole xoxo
What a great display – those blue skates are fab!
Diana, LOVE those skates and your charming display! Merry Christmas, Cecilia
Wow, I've never seen blue skates! And the fur tops? To die for! The shovel and sign were nice additions. I have the sled and the (white) skates. Now you've got me thinking I need something else…hhhmmmmm. Perhaps I have some more blogging to do before Christmas! Happy Holidays!

I love the skates.
Wish I could find some like them where I live.
Merry Christmas
Denise
