Country Barns in Pattersonville (NY)
Hi everyone! Right before Thanksgiving, I drove out near Pattersonville (NY) to attend a couple of estate sales. I passed by some wonderful old buildings and just had to photograph them while I had the chance. Today, I’m sharing those images with you. I’m kinda in love with old wooden barns and farmsĀ and any old ramshackle sort of thing.
The blue window on this old shed, with the adjacent yellow maple
just captured my imagination as I drove by.
I had to turn around and park across the street to take some photos.
Love the pale blue against the old, worn white.
Not far down the road sits this aging barn that stretches for about a hundred yards or so. I stopped and embarked on a thirty minute photo shoot of this grand dame.
Ā The barn-red paint with white trim and beautiful rusty hook begged for attention.
So much beauty in the red and white chippy paint on the grey barn board.
The green moss is creeping up, threatening to overtake the structure.
Nearby cows reclining.
Another view of the length of the barn.
Ā The evidence of many years of rain and damp.
Ā A broken window offers an invitation to glance inside.
Ā More beautiful rusty handles with a cloverleaf design.
Such a wonderful, old barn door. In the right room, wouldn’t it be impressive inside?
Another nearby barn with delicious, green-shuttered windows.
Such a memorable, beautiful fall day out in the country.
Last shot: An old rusty, mustard-colored barrel, out in the woods, mirroring the colors of fall.

Bye for now,

One of my favorite photo subjects! We have some beautiful old farms out here, some sadly abandoned but still beautiful. I had a Flickr account for a few years and posted hundreds of those photos, and I cancelled my account a couple of years ago. (Fortunately I was able to save all my pictures.) I'll be working on posting them on one of my blogs in the near future. There are already a few of them here on the page called "Old Places, New Stories":

Great barn shots! Love the rusted latches and metal, even the oil drum next to that gorgeous tree! But, too am entranced with that pale turquoise window against the whitewashed boards. Very nice!
Wonderful shots of an awesome place. I sure wish those walls could talk!

I’m thankful that you posted pictures of that red barn with the beautifully worn hardware. It is now half collapsed. If you have any desire to see it again, I suggest you go this winter/spring. If you’d like to photograph old barns, my family has many on our property you might like
I would love to see them Nicole. Do you live in the Upstate NY area??
