This Week’s Vintage Finds #57

Hi everyone! I was able to attend two estate sales last week-end and came away with some nice vintage finds.

I bought the four, Rogers table spoons with some metal stamping in mind. I just started learning about it, and I’m thinking with the larger size bowl, I might be able to write something longer than just “basil.” The green decanter will be nice to serve some Sangria in, don’t you think? For a dollar, I brought it home.

I fell in love with this little yellow ware bowl. They’re hard to find at garage or estate sales, so I was pretty excited when I saw it, still available at 11:30 am and at a low, low price. The special thing about this copper kettle next to it is its weight; it’s quite a bit heavier than your typical kettle.

Mine was made in Portugal. I will list it for about $35.

I believe the crown mark you see here indicates that Robinson Ransbottom
manufactured this bowl. For an interesting article about yellow ware, click here.

I’m building up a nice collection of ironstone to fill a corner cupboard in my kitchen. I’m happy to add this charming platter, in the Heritage pattern, to my collection. The Westinghouse Turnover Toaster is in terrific condition and I find the grate design very appealing. You don’t often find them in such good shape. It’s worth about $15-20. LISTED HERE for $24.99.

Here’s the mark on the ironstone. At 15″ it is probably worth about $40-45.
Read Miss Mustard Seed’s article, Ironstone 101, for more info.

The wooden hat mold on the left was a wonderful find for me; I’ve wanted one for a long time. I’m not sure what I’m going to do with it now that I have it, but I have it! It is worth in the neighborhood of $60-70. Next to it are a brass lantern case, a brass candle snuffer and a pair of pretty terrific wrought iron hooks.

A close up of the hooks, probably worth upwards of $100.

I need to conduct some additional research on these.

A view of the bottom of the hat mold.
You can see the hat size incised on the edge–71/8 or 52.

A cute little Pyrex dish — anyone know the pattern?

I thought some nurses out there might fall in love with these sweet angels.

This Week's Vintage Finds #57

Made in Japan, they are worth $15-20 each. SOLD as a set for $70.

Altogether I spent $37, a lot for me to spend on just two sales,

but I think I made some good buys. What do you think?

  1. I always appreciate the informative article links you often include in your posts. I love vintage ceramics and there's a lot to learn! Happy Thanksgiving!

  2. Yes, awesome finds, Diana. I have a hat mold like that one (keeper!), but my sister once found one with the brim also intact – and sold it, can you believe it?? Love that and the toaster (nice, unusual find), but I also like that little brass lantern case & snuffer. That same sister I spoke of buys & sells a lot of yellow ware too. It does pretty well in our booths. I wanna go thrifting with you!
