jan 2018 income report
So, like I said at the top of the post–not great numbers for January, but wheeling and dealing in antiques is more of a long game. You have to look at your totals for the whole year. For example, in 2017, I made anywhere from $178 to $669/month through out the year, and averaged $408/month–just shy of my $420/month goal.

So although this month definitely falls into the “bad” category, I know that in the months ahead, I’ll make up for it.

  1. Hi! You are my very favorite blogger! I love it when I can click on your emails. Question: How do you style your smalls in your antique booth? What do you do to catch the eyes of your customers?
    Thanks for your help!
    Millie

  2. Diana, it was a lean month in antiques in Tennessee in January, between snow days and people being conservative with spending, it was just a low sales month at our store. My profits were very similar to your booth. Just thought you would like to know…;)

  3. Interesting. Always love seeing what you sell. January started out slow for me, but turned into a good month. February has been dismal, whereas Jan & Feb used to be reliably good months. Things change. Interesting that you did better on EBay. I’m trying to get back on there gradually.

  4. January has generally been a slow month wherever I’ve sold. This year was much better, but February sales have been abysmal so far in one booth, but fair in my second booth. You are right about averaging, I can weather a bad month or two, but my decision to pull out of the last shop I was in was based on more bad than good months.

  5. I always love to see what you sold; and your markup! Makes me smile! I sell mostly smalls caz that’s what attracts me and I’m not much (yet!) on furniture upcycles. Loved the dollhouse cash register! Between the dh stuff and smalls, I’d hafta name a business “Amused by Small Things”. I actually made booth rent at one spot this month! Hurrah. Business is slow in Maine this time of year. Discretionary cash goes to the mundane like heating oil. Income tax refunds will help perk business up caz you deserve a splurge from Uncle! Cold and nasty roads keeps a lot of people here home.

  6. Thanks for sharing this information. Even though prices/demand change from region to region, it’s interesting to see your sales breakdowns. Am amazed at the wonderful things you find at incredibly low prices. I’d also be interested in how you display your smalls.

  7. Me again, I managed to subscribe via another link as I was scrolling through your pages. But now I can find your spot on Amazon. When I click in it I get this message.
