What’s Selling in Vintage & Antiques [April 2019]
Hi there! How was your weekend? Did you get to do some vintage shopping? I met up with my sweet friend Nancy (an old, young-at-heart, junkin’ buddy) to scour the local St. Nicholas Church’s flea market (always the 2nd Saturday in May). After two hours, and with arms laden with vintage treasures, we loaded up our vans and then went to lunch. Best. Day. Ever.
Many of the items I’ll keep, some I’ll upcycle into something [hopefully] fantastic, and others I’ll sell. Today you’ll get to find out what’s selling in vintage and antiques [April 2019] here in Upstate New York. Some pretty interesting stuff, I think you’ll agree. For past “what’s selling” posts check here: March, February, and January.
Vintage & Antiques Selling from My Antique Booth
Summer is right around the corner and what better way to enjoy the season than with a game of croquet? (cost: $5, sold: $45).
I chalk painted this small cupboard last fall to use for display at the Shaker Christmas Craft Show (cost: $5, sold: $35).
I LOVED this ladder, but already had a similar one on my front stoop (cost: $5, sold: $55).
Interesting story about this statue. I bought her in two pieces: the you see here, plus her head. I couldn’t repair her since many small pieces were missing, so I decided to try “as is,” which is actually how you find many truly classical pieces–headless (cost:; $8, sold: $42). I’ve hung onto her head and am thinking now I’ll sell it separately. Hey, it’s worth a try, right?
An attractive resin swan sold for $15 (cost: $1).
A cotton towel with red striping sold for $4 (cost: 50¢).
The Fuzzy Duckling, a Little Golden Book, © 1949, 1st ed. sold for $4 (cost: 50¢). To gain access to my Little Golden Book price guide (along with other guides, tutorials, and printables), subscribe here.

A [slightly rusty] Victorian metal frame with no glass or easel back sold for $20 (cost: $1).
A long, Art Deco (flapper-style) necklace sold for $15 (cost: $2). Check out my jewelry price guide here. Enjoy the jewelry I have for sale here.

Some take-aways from this month’s sales:
-
- I’ve got to make time to list more items for sale on eBay! I struggle with feeling torn in a lot of different directions. I LOVE buying and fixing up merchandise, creating vintage-inspired projects, and writing about collecting specific antiques. Listing on eBay is not one of my top ten favorite things to do. But I do love the money it generates, LOL.
- Several of the items that sold this month, I have included in my recent book (50 of My Bestselling Vintage & Antiques [from my antique booth]): ladders, kettles, pink transferware, and mirrors. Did you notice that I sold three antique oak mirrors this month? Two of them were pictured. Subscribe here to get a FREE copy of this eBook.

Bye for now,

I would love to see the head. I collect them 🙂
Diana, I’m constantly amazed at the extreme bargains you find at sales! They are all considerably lower than what I ever find at thrift stores anymore. I have to get in gear and take in some true rummage sales. You got some great deals and made some significant dollars. Good going, girl!
Thanks for sharing your knowledge with me. I enjoy your articles and learning.
I’m visiting a friend at Limekiln Lake for Fourth of July! It will be my first trip to the Adirondacks. I’m looking forward to it.
I’ve been away and now I’m back savoring your site. Someone asked me what I like when I thrift and my answer is I like what I like. It’s not a particular item but what delights me. I love looking at your finds!
Going thru e-mails I’ve missed! You sell such interesting things; you never know what the other guy is gonna want! I am getting SOOO itchy for yard sale season. Hitting thrift stores here is NOT a bargain most times! About 3-4″ of snow here today–darn!
