This Week’s Vintage Finds #154
Hi everyone! Are you starting to get caught up in the mad rush of everything Christmas? I make it a goal every year to try to cut out one Christmas “chore.” A few years ago (when we lived in England) I transitioned from mailed Christmas cards to a Christmas email. I’ve never looked back. Last year, I baked one less cookie recipe, and I think I’m going to do the same this year. Mostly because guess who eats most of them–lol. In fact, over Thanksgiving, while shopping with my sweet daughter at the mall, I caught myself in a mirror as I walked by. Yowza. It’s time for a change in my eating habits (again), and rather than wait until January 1st, I started yesterday. I’m a fan of the Fast Metabolism Diet, by Haylie Pomroy; it’s well-balanced and best of all, it works for me.  Enough about me and my double-chin, how about some vintage finds?
I love coming across vintage luggage of any kind, but red luggage, now that puts a smile on my face.
Loving this train case (cost: $3.00, value: $22-25.00).
A nice little “USA” pottery vase (cost: free, value: $12-15.00).
A nicely shaped bird feeder that I’ll use for a craft project.
Not your “typical” vintage sign, but it should have no trouble finding a forever home (cost: $5.00, value: $30-35.00).
An old cider jug (cost: 25¢, value: $8-10.00).

In the 70’s, a beloved local reporter, Barney Fowler, wrote extensively about the Adirondacks. Over the years, I’ve bought and sold his three volume set a couple of times. Recently, I purchased two of the three volumes at an estate sale (cost: $1.00 each, value: $8-10.00 each).
Each volume is filled with tales of the mountains, including stories about wildlife, mountain men, outlaws, and more.
A less colloquial look at the Adirondacks (cost: 50¢, value: $8.00).
A naive still life that has a certain charm (cost: $3.00, value: $28-32.00).
Some sort of wooden mold (cost: $5.00, value: $25-28.00). I think it would make a great “wreath” of some sort.
A fish trap (cost: $3.00, value: $25-28.00).

Final Fabulous Find: Technically not a find, this antique mold (soap?) is a keeper (gift from my sister). I’m working on giving it a Christmas-y makeover without making any permanent changes. Ideas?

Bye for now,

Always adding new merchandise!
Our vintage link party opens Thursday at 8 am–

I always love to see your finds. That red case is really sharp! The round wood mold could be hung. I see a back on it covered with newsprint/sheet music with a scene inside. Now that fish trap is interesting, never saw anything like that!
Cool finds, again. I love how you are always thinking outside the box too.
Great finds Diana as always. Love that fish trap that could be made into something awesome.
Happy New Week.
Kris
So many great finds! Love the red case, but the little green pottery is my fav! I can’t leave cute pottery behind it seems!
I’d put fat red or other color candles, short and/or graduated with greenery around them.
You find the best stuff! My favorite is that blue vase.
For the soap mold…..shredded vintage sheet music and your treasured vintage ornaments😆
fun stuff!
Once again, great finds. I wish I could find things for the prices you do. Maybe what I find is California inflated? LOL! Thanks for sharing!
I would simply add candles to the “soap mold;” varying heights to add interest.
I like your idea of cutting out one chore each Christmas. I don’t bake a lot of cookies but I do make fudge. LOL pure sugar. Love the red train case. Are we going to see it in a vignette soon? Can’t wait to see what you do with the soap mold. I’ve never seen a fish trap. Very interesting. Great finds all around.
Wonderful finds Diana … I know you will show us some fun decorating ideas with them soon. Interesting fish trap basket.
I always look forward to your vintage finds. That vintage mold is a gift to envy! What a wonderful sister you must have that she knows just what would please you! As for how to decorate/up-cycle it, since i have been searching for good prices on bottle brush trees I immediately saw the little holes each with a bottle brush tree in it! You could use a variety of sizes and colors for interest. Or you could mix the trees with candles with greens around them. I like that idea. I’ll be anxious to see what you end up doing with it. Please post about it, okay?
Lovely finds all around! The soap mold is my favorite!
You came up with some great finds. I liked the mold. I immediately pictures battery votives in it and used in a table scape.
