This Week’s Vintage Finds #17
I found some fun things while out estate sale-ing this week-end. I’m always attracted to these black and gold cash boxes, and I actually have a few on hand, but this one was priced right, so I picked it up. The textile on the top right (and below in the bucket) fascinates me. At 96″ long by x 34″ wide, it’s an unusual size. More the size of a hall rug, but it’s not a rug; it’s more like a tapestry, with a repetitive pattern of swans and flowers. It’s quite heavy and could be used as a wall hanging. Or, if you were willing to cut it up, it would make some killer pillows.
Below that you see a sweet little box of Shiny Brites and then an almost perfect condition box of vintage chalk–dontcha just love old school supplies?!
I have to snatch up galvanized buckets whenever I see them (especially for $1 each!). Cast iron trivets are good sellers, and these.are all interesting patterns. The one leaning against the bucket is the oldest of the lot. In front you see two of the three penny whistles I purchased–all manufactured in England
Here you can see the swan motif on the textile.
And here the flowers. I’ve begun to do some research but am not having much luck thus far.
Would love to hear any info or thoughts that you all might have.

These vintage bottles of ink and their boxes were just 25 cents each; aren’t they cute?
I thought I could surely use them for some art project or other.
Did you find any great bargains this past week-end?
This week I’m linking up with:

Love those ink bottles…so cute!
I know! Thanks for visiting 🙂
Wow, another great sale day.
We don't have this sort of event across the pond.
The textile is beautiful, don't cut into before you find out what it was intended for ;0)
Hugs
Yes, but you have lovely charity shops and fantastic car boot sales! I promise, no cutting until I know what I have…
Are those swans, or flamingos? Looks like they have long legs. Thanks for sharing.
Yea, I know!
I love the colors in that cash box, so vivid. And the trivets are great, too. I'm sorry I don't know anything about the textile, hope you find something about it. Thank you for sharing this at my History & Home link party this week! Take care – Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com
Thanks for hosting Dawn 🙂
