This Week’s Vintage Finds #22
The Fostoria Glass Company (of Fostoria, Ohio) manufactured this beautiful tidbit tray in the Romance pattern. I just love the plumed handle on this piece of elegant glass. For a really great info about Fostoria glass, check out this Ebay article.
I was quite taken with this wooden box with the louvered doors, and then I opened it and discovered this interesting salad set. On the bottom are oil, vinegar, and mustard containers, and on the top are spice holders. They were manufactured in Japan, probably in the 1960s.
Behind the box is a really beautiful aqua blue wool blanket that I’m struggling with whether to sell it or not, since I think the color is just terrific. The upholstery fabric right next to it I bought for $1, and I plan to use it to recover a stool for my master bath to hold clothes while we’re showering. I plan to write a post about my recently renovated bathroom and hopefullly, I’ll have finished this stool upcycle.
Here are some of the more rustic goodies that I found this week-end: another wooden rolling pin, a nice old wooden candlestick in the back, the tartlet pan with the two brush trees leaning on it, and the green-handled cheese cutter.
I just think egg baskets are so sweet; these are real eggs I grabbed from the fridge for this “photo shoot.”
I think it’s neat that a sad iron turned up this week. About a month ago, I purchased several cast iron trivets, which are used to hold a hot sad iron to keep it from burning your table. I wrote an article about them if you’d like to learn more about trivets.

Bye for now,

Love seeing your finds, Diana. Before you consider your pretty linens as cutters & crafters, you might want to read my post from January on tips & facts for vintage linens. I have a whole arsenal of products my sisters & I use to refresh old linens. 🙂
Rita
I will go check that out right away, Rita. Some of them are pretty damaged–holes and rips, but there is some beautiful lace and embroidery that's still salvageable. Take care!
Rita is right – I have used her suggestions and old linens have turned out great. Great finds especially the small cabinet.
That's good to hear–I'm going to go visit her and see what it's all about!
Cute cabinet. I would like to rescue some vintage linens too. I was almost ready to turn several old tablecloths into napkins. I will be visiting Rita too.
Thanks for dropping in, Candy 🙂 Yes, good idea to check it out.
I enjoyed seeing your vintage finds, especially the Fostoria glass. It looks like you had a good hunting day. Isn't it fun? Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
Yes, I love it! I'm going to head over and visit you at your blog, now 🙂
Beautiful finds — I especially like the linens. I'm going to check out Rita's hints. I have a glass platter that looks like that — will also have to check out Ebay article. haha — no wonder I spend so much time on my computer!
Ha! I feel the same way–there's always something new to learn or another friend to make! Glad this post has resulted in uneartheing such good info 🙂
WOW Diana this is so interesting. Thanks too for such a lovely comment on my Blog. Judy x
Thanks, Judy 🙂 You are such a talented artist!
Very interesting finds, especially that Japanese cupboard. Love it completely. I cannot wait for garage sales to start around here.
Hi Andrea–thanks for stopping by–spring will come to you, too, eventually 🙂
Great finds! I just love those embroidered linens. Even if spotted, you can do something with them, and I'm so glad you gave them a new home. Thanks for sharing this at the History & Home Link Party this week! Take care – Dawn @ We Call It Junkin.com
Thanks, Dawn!
Oh, my! Really awesome finds – love the flower frogs! I do appreciate you sharing with Home and Garden Thursday,
Kathy
Thanks Kathy!
Diana your finds are so wonderful. My favorite are the linens…They always seem to call to me when I enter a sale. I have drawers full and have plans for using them up this summer…at least some of them. I am anxious to see what you come up with using them in your projects.
Thanks CatieAn–I should be posting one idea that I had recently. It's kinda different…
