This Week’s Vintage Finds #12
I popped into Salvation Army this week; we have one in the area that’s under different management and their prices are lower than other SAs, so I prefer to shop there when I can. I love the wire tray in the background (I put the piece of wood behind it so you could see it better). It was just $2.99. The topiary was 79 cents, so I picked it up, even though I don’t care for the container. I figure I’ll paint it or cover it with something. Likewise, I’m not in love with the crock, but I’ve been working a lot with burlap lately and I can kinda picture it covered with burlap and stamped with something, a number maybe. (Other burlap posts: Burlap Ornaments and Burlap Tags). It set me back $2.99.
The rolls of sheer silver and bronze wired ribbon were only 79 cents each, so I grabbed them as well.
Here’s a close up of the wire tray. I can’t decide if it’s going to need a firm something covering the bottom or if it can be used as is. Guess I’ll just have to try it out!

Bye for now,

Being the lazy person that I am, I would decorate the topiary for each holiday and just wrap the base in matching wrapping paper each time, so I was always changing it to match the top.
Cool tray, If it were me, I'd put a piece of plexiglass in it, so it has a bottom, but you can still see the wires.
Great ideas–I appreciate the help 🙂 The Plexiglas idea is especially clever!
Love the little topiary! All your finds were good and the crock is pretty cool! Thanks for sharing at TTF!
awwwww….everybody is finding stuff but me , great finds chuck
Thanks Linda! Hi Kate–we lived in Derbyshire for two years and visited many towns in Lincolnshire while we lived there. Thanks for stopping by!
I love the wire basket. Great finds!
I would paper mache and distress paint the bottom of the topiary to make it look like an old pot. Love the wire basket.
Thanks for stopping by Sharon, and thanks for the ideas Donna. I'll make sure to post whatever I eventually do with the pot 🙂
You found some great thrifty pieces. I really like that basket and the crock would make a great planter.
Have a wonderful week.
Lots of potential in those finds of yours. What you do with the base depends on where you want to put it. I like hand painting things and putting inspirational words. But that's just me! Thanks for your visit and taking the time to leave m,e a comment so I could find you! :^) patsy
I like that idea Patsy. Thanks so much for stopping by 🙂
