What Sold From My Antique Booth in April
Writing these antique booth sales reports are definitely much more fun when I have a good month 🙁 April would have been a very sad sales month for me except that I made a number of sales via my blog shop and one on eBay.
Two very slow months in a row have me a bit concerned, but that’s the nature of retail sales — you have to take the downs with the ups. As long as I average $400/month at the shop (or more) over the full year, I’m happy.
Okay, so my total April sales at the shop were $311.50, and my cost of goods sold was $24.50, well under my goal of no more than 10% of my total sales. The item I sold on eBay, a display perfume bottle, also called a “factice,” sold for $47.50 and cost me just $1.00.

As did a “Milk” sign, also made by moi, $25.00.

A framed vintage flag sold for $21.50 ($25.00 – 15%). Read about how I age and frame old flags here.
A cutting board sold for $26.00 ($32 – 20%). NOTE: I cleaned it up and seasoned it as described in this post before selling it.
A hand-stenciled “eat” ironstone platter sold for $10.00.
An ironstone platter sold for $12.00. You may be interested in seeing my ironstone collection or my ironstone price guide.
Two rolling pins sold, one for $6.00, another for $8.00.

A white enamelware coffee post sold for $10.00. You may be interested in my enamelware price guide.
A pint-sized Ball jar sold for $12.00 ($15.00 – 20%). You may be interested in this post about canning jars or my canning jar price guide.

An aqua “Moon & Stars” salt cellar sold for $12.00.

A Lentheric 12 perfume factice sold on eBay for $47.50.
So that’s it for my April sales–here’s hoping May is better, but I have a sinking feeling it is not. After having such a strong winter, it’s a disappointment to have a slow spring. But retail sales can be temperamental, and I certainly won’t give up 🙂

Bye for now,

I sell vintage and antique smalls thru etsy and was quite surprised that May 2017 has finished at an all time high for sales revenue after 5 years of being open. Not sure why, but I’ll take it! Good luck to you, I enjoy your advice and tips.
For the month of May, I was lucky enough to sell a dresser, so that jumped up my revenue for the month. I need to set up an etsy shop, it just seems a little intimidating with all the shipping and taking the time to list every thing. The rest of what I sold was a mish mash – I did have a wonderful ‘patriotic’ tin from around the 40’s or 50’s that sold right away as I knew it would. I hate that wonderful old stuff isn’t selling like it used to. When I am in the antique mall where I have my booth it is mostly older folks wandering around, same as it is at estate sales.
Great job, Diana on your profit margin! Rolling pins – priced very affordably (hint, hint).
Diana, keep up the good work! Your blog is amazing! I appreciate all your hard work in giving us so much info. I have learned so much. Things are also a bit slow here in Georgia in the summertime! But I think things will pick up as we head towards the holidays which will be here before we know it!!! Blessings to you.
It is a funny up and down business. I like the breadboards. I have been looking for them but I really haven’t found any with character.
It does stink when you expect to have a good month and it ends up being horrible. My last month in my northside (older) booth that I just moved out of was one of my worst months. I was even holding a sale AND I completely rearranged in a month prior. What contributed to it was actually horrible construction with no end it sight, so the move out was perfect timing.
I just love your sweet stenciled signs! And thanks for being a prolific blogger – I know when I click, you’ll have something new and interesting to tell us.
