Antique Red Barn Love & Free Printable
Hi everyone! I took a drive last week-end out toward Pattersonville (NY), a very rural area west of Albany. Heading to an estate sale, I knew I’d probably pass a photo-worthy barn or two. I stopped at just one and got some good shots–just before the farmer/owner walked over to interrogate me. I had pulled into the driveway of what I thought was the farmhouse, but there was no one home, so I crossed the street and parked next to the barn and began taking photos. Evidently, the farmhouse was down the road and as the farmer’s son-in-law drove by, he saw me doing my thing and called the farmer. It took some sweet talking before I got that man to relax a little. I never did get him to crack a smile. It was just me and my camera–what did he think I was doing?!
A wonderful big old red barn, with beautiful color and gorgeous texture.
Just look at that door!
The barn clearly showed its age.
It made a great backdrop for the grasses and dandelions growing nearby.
The honey bees buzzed all around on this perfect, 70º day.

Gorgeous rusty old hinge.
Wild mustard.
And of course dandelions filled the landscape, some blooming, others gone “gray” like me–their silky seeds floating on the breeze.

How about you? Can you pass up an old barn? Or are you like me, pulling over to go “full photo shoot” out in the wild?
Thanks so much for stopping by–

I love old barn’s. My grandson lives in Idaho an he sends me pictures on his way to work.
So sweet that you share a love for barns–a great way to connect and stay in touch, Jo 🙂
Over the state line (Ill./Ind.) when we would go visit relatives there used to be an old round barn we would look for and I have always loved to see them. Your red one is really neat! Love the old door fastener guess you’d say and the hinge. Sorry the farmer was so “crusty” but I would have taken pictures, too. 🙂
We have a round Shaker barn not too far away in Mass.–it’s beautiful. “Crusty” is the perfect word. Thanks for the moral support, Karen 🙂
Great pictures Diana. Glad you did not let the old farmer/rancher scare you off. Thanks for sharing. I am sure I will be using some of them.
Blessings,

Beautiful, Diana! There is an old red barn in my family and I was there one day when a couple of photographers asked my uncle if they could take photos of his barn and old trucks. I did not dare wait around to see what he said to them, but I hope he said yes. His barn has been pictured on several calendars over the years.
I live in a historical town and have wanted to photograph some of the old houses here but afraid that the owners might get upset and call police. Some doors are so cool and architectural decor as well.
I always ooh and aah over barns that we pass along the way. My kids even point them out now because they know me so well:) Love your photos they’re awesome! xoKathleen Charm Bracelet Diva {At Home}
Think of all the stories this old barn could tell, Thanks Diana for stopping by and sharing.
Big old barns make my heart go pitter patter! Thanks for sharing this one at Talk of the Town ! 🙂
That barn is gorgeous and I think is the epitome of a New York State barn! There are some gorgeous ones around me and down in Naples , NY. I do have to pause when I see them!
I so enjoyed this post and your narrative!
I am so sorry to be a week late commenting but we have had workmen demolishing the dining room and kitchen floors. What a mess! I am finally getting to my computer. Your flower close ups are awesome, and I love all of the pictures you took of the barn and its hardware and doors and windows. It make me feel like I am there with you. Barn hardware always fascinates me. It differs from barn to barn. So glad I got back to your post even if a week late. genie
I’m curious about commercial use for this image, not for selling prints but as a background for a tv show poster. There isn’t really anything in the way of budget and came across this when I was looking up royalty free images. Upon reading closer I see that it is free for personal printing and craft use but thought I’d reach out. Also no guarantee’s it would be used at this point, just trying to gather options at this stage. Thanks and hopefully I can hear back from you soon!
Sorry to clarify I was speaking specifically about the barn door picture. Also, if you have any versions that didn’t make the cut for your post here I’d be interested too, the format is going to be vertical in the final composition and will be slightly blurred out as it’s a background with people composited over top.
