This Week’s Vintage Finds #3
Hi everyone! I know you all love a good garage sale as much as I do, and I sure was happy to hit a couple this past weekend. And if you’re a crafter, then you will appreciate the scrapbooking sale I hit as well. I love it when I come home with crafting supplies and vintage finds.
My friend and fellow garage saler, Nancy, told me about the scrapbooking sale. She’s on the mailing list of a woman who used to own a scrapbooking store and who still networks with other scrapbookers. When she hears about a crafter holding a scrapbooking sale, then she informs her mailing list. Nice, right?
The sale was jam packed with all kinds of resources, but mostly stamps. Even though I already own oodles of stamps, I bought these two Close to the Heart brand sets for $1 each.
Let’s face it, sometimes the hobby is more about collecting the tools and other materials than actually using them?!! Sigh.
Oh, yes, I also bought this Anna Griffin brand set of words stamps for $1; the photo is of the list of included words.
There were two Sizzix and one Cricut machines available at the sale, but I don’t know much about either. I turned to the woman standing next to me, and she very kindly explained them both to me.
And then she told me about a sale happening the next day at Tuesday Mornings. The Sizzix Big Kick would be on sale for $30. She also explained that the original size dies (like these that I bought for $2.00 each) would work with it.

Don’t these look so cool! They’re like library date stamps but with about 15 or so different words, like love and celebrate, in various fonts. Can’t wait to try them out.

These vintage green chairs came in a perfect [Adirondack-y] green, ideal for a camp or just the back deck. I find it hard to pass up anything in this lovely shade. They cost just $2.00 each. (SOLD: $25.00 for the pair)
Lastly, a vintage Jadeite Fire King bowl, purchased for just 25¢. (SOLD: $10.00) Made popular by Martha Stewart and other decorators, Jadeite makes a fun collectible, particularly because of the variety of pieces available.
A number of different companies produced this cheap, sturdy glassware from about the 1930’s to the 1970’s, resulting in a huge selection of patterns, shades, and forms.
I don’t personally collect Jadeite; I sell it, but I can certainly see the attraction. It’s a fun collectible. What do you collect?

Diana, You made such a HAUL with those ink stamps; I wasn’t getting into it–LOL!l In almost 4 years of retirement, I still have not scrapbooked a single page, but have made so many cards and projects. I have 3 friends who are into it and I have borrowed some of their stamps–it sure stretches the budget. Most of my stamps are bot on the cheap–Goodwill, yard sales, clearance or Hobby Lobby when on sale (they have a great selection of religious ones). I am assuming that Sizzzix label tag is the one you used on the great birch bark ornaments. The Anna Griffin stuff was a STEAL. What great words!
