This Week’s Vintage Finds #46
Hi everyone! Oh how I love garage saling in the fall–my favorite time of year. I shopped alone this past Friday (sometimes I need a little “me time,” so it’s okay), but on Saturday I went to a craft fair with Constant Cousin Sue; I’ll write about that later this week or next.
I think this is the end of a barrel, with the words, “Boardman Bros. Albany, NY” written on it. I love local history like this, so it might be a keeper. I always pick up spare flags, for decorating or for crafts.
So, I’m a little compulsive right now about buying up cutting boards to stencil words on (as I mentioned last week), but I would’ve bought the pig anyway, especially for the low, low price I paid for it. I snatched up the milk glass measuring cup and reamer, but upon closer inspection, I’m pretty sure it’s a repro. For $1, it’s a lesson well-learned.
A close-up of the sweet piggie board–he’s a good size.
I love green and cream together, so this bread tin really spoke to me. Loving the handle on this ice cream scoop. Will list the tin for about $25 (it’s got some rust on the lid) and the scoop for about $10.
I like the nice simple lines of this wicker basket. I’m considering stenciling a number on it.
What do you think?
I decorate my Christmas tree with gold and wine colored bulbs, along wide ribbon coming from the top and curling downward. I love the warm, worn gold of these vintage Shiny Brites. They’re mine.
Another chess board! This one’s a bit thinner than some of the others I’ve found lately,
but it’s framed and has…
but it’s framed and has…
a backgammon board on the back.
I love the warm wood tones. Will list it for about $25.
Isn’t this 1979 Glacier Bay poster produced by the National Park and Preserve of Alaska terrific?
Here’s a close up of some of the fantastic graphics.
I love these seals; they make me smile 🙂
I’m going to have to research this one a bit more to determine its worth.
I’ll get back to you–

Bye for now,

You had me at "pig!"
Ha! I just sold it to a lucky reader 🙂
Awesome finds! I love the barrel bottom (and the pig and the chess/backgammon and the poster). Yes to the # on the basket, not too dark, faded and aged, like the wicker – maybe 13? as in file #13? 🙂
Thanks Rita–great advice on the basket. I'm adding it to my "pile" of projects. Now that the kids are back in school, I'll hopefully have a bit more time for fun stuff like that.
Love the bread tin and the poster! Fun stuff!
Hi Heather–thanks!
How did I miss your birthday? Happy birthday, Diana! Love the barrel bottom and poster – really neat!
Ha–make sure you pop over to my blog birthday page to become eligible for some prizes, June 🙂
Love your finds! The chess/backgammon board is really nice!
Hi Melissa–thanks so much 🙂
Some fun finds! I like the bread tin and the pig too.
Thanks Amy, and thanks for stopping by 🙂
The pig with a stencil on it will be so cute! Love the chess board, gosh you find some cool stuff!
Hi Linda–doesn't look like I'm going to get to stencil the pig–someone asked to buy it 🙂 Thanks for the visit–
The artist who did the poster is Charles Harper. He does some really nice stuff. Look him up. Thank you for sharing all your finds!
Thanks so much for the great info, Rush–I will surely look Harper up to get some more info. He's obviously quite talented–
I was just about to post the same thing…. went to his website and found the poster for $40 and $139 framed…. great find….
You sure found some fun treasures. Love that piggy, wicker basket, and the very cool colorful poster.
Thanks Betsy!
That piggy is to die for, as are all the things you find! How can you part with any of them??!!
What great finds!! I love the wooden end of the barrel! That would be perfect for some fall decorating! 🙂 Wishing you a lovely day! xo Holly
What fun finds, Diana. The backgammon board has all the essential colors perfect for a fall display. I'm inspired!
Some nice finds, Diana! Whether it's repro or not, the measuring cup and reamer is a steal for a buck! I'm so glad the weather is starting to cool a tad, our thrift season is just getting ready to start her in the desert! Blessings, Cindy
Love the bread tin the most. I think it might be the colors that attract me. I would have to hang the barrel round.
I'm gonna have to jump on this cutting board bandwagon… Thanks for sharing @ TTF!
The barrel and the bread box both caught my eye…you're such a great picker! I appreciate that you share your listing prices, too. Thanks so much for sharing at RLTLT, Diana.
