This Week’s Vintage Finds #131
Hi everyone! I’m having some technical difficulties here at my house. It seems that my faithful laptop, which has served me well for almost five full years, is on its last legs. At this moment, I am writing to you via my sweet, teenage daughter’s laptop, but (as you might imagine) I don’t have access to it for very long(!). And I only have the photographs that were still loaded on my camera available to me. So I’m operating under some limitations, but hopefully these circumstances won’t last for long. Thank you for bearing with me, as I know you will. What you’ll see here today are some of my vintage finds from this past week.
Most dealers report having difficulty selling items from the Victorian period. However, this ornate metal frame was priced so low, that I can, in turn, price it fairly low. It should move without too much trouble (cost: $2.00, value: $20-25.00).
I find that mirrors of almost any kind sell well at my antique booth, as I expect this vintage, oak-framed one will (cost: $2.00, value: $18-25.00).
This Pfaltzgraff “ironstone” platter was a gift from a sweet friend and fellow garage-saler (Bev). I wanted to give her a shout out for thinking of me 🙂
I thought this large enamel tray (part of a broiler pan?) would make a terrific sign (cost: $1.00). What should I stencil on it?
I often use hooks on signs or cabinet doors (turned into signs), so I was quite pleased when I found all ten of these at the estate sale for $1.00.
They’ve been around, that’s for sure.

Aren’t these embossed canning jars great? (cost: 50¢ each, value: $8-10.00 each)
Vintage items from the 50’s, MIB (mint-in-the-box) are not to be passed up. The graphics alone are delightful (cost: $1.00, value: $10-12.00).
Ditto this Good Housekeeping plaid dust jacket–too bad it’s in such bad shape (cost: $1.00, value: $6-10.00).

The women in every photo, each involved in some aspect of housekeeping, is wearing a dress. Crazy, right!

Final Find: I know there’s a lot of love flung around the blogging world, but seriously, I’m loving this [oil on canvas] fall landscape, signed M. Emmett (cost: $5.00, value: $75-85.00). Some quick internet research failed to turn up anything on M. Emmett, but I’ll keep trying. For now the piece is hanging in our office and I’m quite happy with it.

Bye for now,
New merchandise added all the time!

Our vintage link party will open again Thursday at 8 am–

I’ve been on the hunt for old hooks like that. They sell quite well in my booths for $2/ea! The embossed jars are old peanut butter jars, I believe. And those sippers are AWESOME!
Great price on the hooks! If I don’t use them, I guess I’ll sell them 🙂 Thanks for the tip on the jars–very helpful. Did I price those sippers right?!!
Diana, nice scores! I love that painting 🙂 Hopefully, your computer issues will be cleared up shortly. I dread the day mine goes!
Thanks Rheta! Yea, that painting is something. Looks like I’m getting my laptop back tomorrow, good as new(!). Woo woo.
Great things, as usual, Diana. Love the sippers, the oil painting (!) And the hooks. Hope you get past your tech issues soon. That’s a real headache.
So many great finds Diana. I really like those canning jars and Victorian frame, but the oil painting is my favorite. I would probably keep that one too. I have two paintings that I put in my booth recently and then took out a couple of weeks later. One is still in my garage and one is hanging on the wall in my living room. Kathy
I always look forward to your vintage finds! They are always fabulous!
Those hooks are fabulous! And I love that fall painting.
Great finds. I love the hooks and the painting is so great, I’d keep it if I were you. When I looked at the broiler pan, I thought of the old saying ‘What’s cookin’, good lookin’ – pretty cliche and out of date, but there you have my thoughts on a saying to paint. However, something colorful like a grouping of pumpkins would be cool, the orange and the blue background would be great.
Lots of great stuff this week. Love the oil painting and enamel pan. Good idea to turn the pan into a sign. Fun sippers.
Ooh I love the painting…always a wonderful find! And the ornate frame is lovely!
