Quick & Easy Vintage Art Display
Hi there! How’s your week been? My family has had a rough week, but we are moving forward, prayerfully asking the Lord for the grace we need. As always, I thank you for any prayers you may have time to offer up for us.
I had already completed today’s project and taken most of the photos, so it didn’t take much effort to pull it all together. In fact, I’m a little embarrassed at how easy this vintage art display project is, but I’ve been so pleased with the results, I thought I’d share it with you.
And if you read to the end, you’ll gain access to my “farmhouse definition” free printable
The supplies you’ll need include wood glue, mini clothespins, sawtooth hangers, and some scrap wood.
Okay, so don’t laugh. The main part of the project is to get your hands on some fabulous scrap wood [or buy some here] and then glue on two of the mini clothespins. Yeah, that’s pretty much it.
You might want to do a little measuring because once you glue down the pins, you’ll be somewhat limited as to the size of the art you can use. For example, if your artwork is narrower than the distance between the pins, you won’t be able to clip it.
Just a dab of wood glue will do the trick.
Same with the sawtooth hangers. The wood I had on hand was too thin to hammer even the tiniest nails into, but because the wood is so light, wood glue works great.
On projects like these, I’ll often glue on a little tag with my URL on it.
What makes this project so great, besides it’s ease, is it’s versatility. If you don’t want to use my printable, try a photograph. This photo of mine,ย Vermont Rocking Chairs, looks great against the time worn wood.
I found a few other pieces of scrap wood lying around and quickly turned them into art displays as well. Happy as Pigs, like Vermont Rocking Chairs above, is available for digital download in my shop. When ordering, mention this post and you’ll get 25% off ๐
Vintage book illustrations make great wall art, too. And who doesn’t love Pooh?
This old book illustration is as close to Valentine’s Day as this post is getting. Sign up on my email list, and you’ll get access to this free cat couple printable in this Wednesday’s email newsletter.
It would look great in a child’s room. If you printed it on watercolor paper, it would be fun to paint before hanging. Or how about hanging your children’s art from one of these displays??
I picked up several planks of this green-painted wood for a dollar each a couple of years ago. This end piece from a farmhouse sign project made the perfect backdrop for my raspberry photo.
Back to where we started–with the farmhouse definition–I first printed it on pure white paper, but just didn’t like it.
So I tried it out on some taupe-colored paper (and printed it in black and white), and I was pleased with the results.
Feel free to download the graphic by clicking on it and saving it to your files. Use it any time in any way you’d like. It’s my [small] gift to you ๐ [For best results, print on quality paper, presentation paper for example.]
Thanks for hanging out with me while I share my vintage-inspired projects with you. I’ll tell you, your encouragement and enthusiasm inspire me, and for that, I’m so very grateful.
Thanks so much for stopping by–

Glad you like the printable, Laura and thank you SO much for your prayers!!
Thank you so much for this free printable. I love it!!!!
I’m SO glad, Donna!! Thanks for dropping by and for letting me know ๐
Prayers for your family, Diana. I have been listing a BUNCH of people in my prayers at bedtime. I often envision them
(and all my little daily problems) safe in God’s hands (my God has knarly old hands) and when I am done, I go to sleep much easier, C-pap mask and all! I have also found that when I am really POed at someone, if I pray for them for about a month, my resentment has disappeared!
Ran off a copy of your printable; thank you. I have a corner of my booth with farmhousey stuff; I may frame it and put it there! Loved your art; will have to be on the lookout for boards! Scored a doorplate (shiny new brass) for .99 at Restore yesterday and have just the jingle bells to go with it! Paid 2.99 for some at my mall including an art deco that needs BLING! Will need lessons from a kid to upload photos when I am done!!! They have anupcoming contest for upcycling their stuff; took pix of my treasures for dollhouse accessories this a.m.; now to get to the “after.”
Kathy you cracked me up today!! I’m so blessed by your praying for us and your colorful imagery put a smile on my face (I needed that). Glad you like my printable and hope it helps you sell something ๐ Congrats on finding a doorplate–have fun with it!
Very sweet! I happen to have all the supplies needed!
Yay! Have fun with it, AnnMarie ๐
