FaiTHought: Creation Speaks
Hi everyone! When I became a believer (a long time ago now), I remember feeling like the lights had suddenly come on all around me, and that I was seeing the world clearly for the very first time. Cloud formations held a new fascination for me, and the awe I experienced at God’s handiwork would take my breath away at times.
Stunning sunsets made my heart feel so full that I found myself spontaneously thanking God for the breathtaking beauty that filled the skies. My heart soared at the sight of a hillside glowing with fall colors, and I sometimes felt my eyes well up with tears.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;Â
night after night they reveal knowledge.
Psalm 19:1
God reveals himself to us in many ways. In theological terms, his speaking to us via creation is known as “general revelation.” He also reveals himself through “special revelation” or supernatural routes, like God coming to earth in the form of a man (Jesus), God inspiring a sacred book to guide us through life (the Bible), and miraculous signs and wonders.
My Father has used the glory of his creation many times over the past 30 plus years that I have walked with him, to draw me back to himself, to remind me of his love for me, to show me the vast storehouse of his riches, and to remind me that yes, he is real, and he is also wildly creative and at the same time, so very creatively loving.
With spring bursting forth here in the Northeast, I’ve been captivated by the variety of greens in our world: emerald, jade, moss, hunter, chartreuse, avocado, and olive–almost all are visible in this one landscape I shot recently.
Scripture says that it is impossible to look upon creation and deny that God exists (see Romans 1:20). One who is all powerful, all knowing, and all loving made this earth and its myriad intricacies and stunning beauty–just for us. Today I am thankful for all that he is made, and I hope that you are as well.
Thanks so much for stopping by–

Bye for now,

Love this. You live in such a naturally beautiful place! Love how you capture it. I too am always amazed at God’s creativity in nature. It inspires me to be more creative myself.
Our area IS beautiful, Lora 🙂 Thanks for your kind words–
This is wonderful! I love your photos and how you describe the love and majesty of our God. I also love Springtime in New York. Everything is so new and the air is full of perfume from the lilacs and honeysuckle. Thanks for this post Diana. Have a fantastic day.
So glad you enjoyed the post Sally Ann! Yes, and the lilacs lasted so long this year with the cooler weather–such a blessing. Hope you have a great weekend, friend 🙂
Thank you for sharing your beautiful thoughts Diana as well as your lovely pictures. When you have a relationship with God the beauty of the world truly does come alive. I am often in awe of all of the works he has done. We don’t stop enough throughout our day to really take it all in. I appreciate the reminder to do so. Have a wonderful weekend!
You’re so welcome Debi; I’m glad you enjoyed the post 🙂 Thanks so much for the visit and I hope your weekend is blessed!
Beautiful post, Diana. I love the verse…I have often wondered how people can look at the beauty in the world and not believe in God.
Thanks so much Linda, and I feel the same–so much amazing beauty and intricacy 🙂
My thoughts as well Linda. He is everything to me, my life, my all! Thank you , Diana. So wonderful to know you love and serve Him, too.
What a lovely post, Diana. Yes, Nature by God’s hand is so beautiful. Growing up in the Great Lakes area, and living in the same for nearly 6 decades, I just love the changes of the Seasons. Beauty to be found all the year round.
Thank you Cynthia! What a beautiful part of the country–you’ve been blessed! I don’t think I could live without the seasons…
What a beautiful post. I live near a river and we get gorgeous sunrises–often with mist. I think thunderstorms/ clouds follow the river because we get an awesome amount of rainbows, too. Nature has always made me highly aware of God’s presence. Lately, I have just been fascinated by the multicolored stripes in 1 cat hair of my Squeak’s tiger fur (rescue cat)! God’s got them numbered, too! I worked at Maine’s VA for 25 years, and one demented vet taught me the meaning of “sky blue pink”; I think of him whenever I see it in sunrises and sunsets. I’ll match the beauty of Maine to your NY! The perfume of lilacs wafts across the street from my sisterin-law’s yard; it’s awesome (as in full of awe).
River life sounds just beautiful, Kathy. You must have some lovely photographs, and I agree, Maine is a gorgeous state! We’ve been enjoying our lilacs for much longer than usual due to some very chilly weather–well worth it in my book 🙂
Needed to be reminded of this today….thank you. Life can be so hard….but it also such a gift, along with the beauty around us. Will keep these thoughts in mind as I make my way through some tough times ahead. Have a glorious and blessed weekend!
I hear you Karen–life is so much harder than I ever thought possible back in my twenties and even my thirties, but I would not trade the opportunity to know my Lord and to share in his suffering so that I could truly know the depth and height of his great love for me and all those I love. Saying a prayer for you today for grace and strength as you face your difficult times.
I think the Northeast and particularly NY has some of the most beautiful scenery….but then I am a little biased! Beautiful post!
The greens have really captivated me this spring, too, Diana. I have been thinking the very same things about Creation. And I remember feeling the very same way as I grew in the Lord — I appreciated the beauty so much more than I ever did in my previous life. Thanks for sharing this!
