26 Vintage Christmas Finds
Today I have twenty-six vintage finds that all fall into the “Christmas” category, and what better day to start getting in the mood than Black Friday? I hope you’ll enjoy perusing my vintage Christmas finds.
A trio of vintage felted deer (cost: $1.00 for three, value: $10-12.00 for three).
Glass
A box of pink Shiny Brites (cost: $1.00, value: $8-10.00).
I enjoy displaying Christmas bulbs in large glass jars, especially one color at a time. See the rest of my Christmas Home Tour here.
A trio of hand painted, Western Germany bulbs (cost: 50ยข, value $3-4.00). I sometimes like to decorate my ironstone cupboard with aqua, so I’ll be hanging onto these.
This is a shot from Christmas 2014.
I bought a box of six of these pretty Czechoslovakian bells and have already broken three–boo hoo (cost: 50ยข for six, value: $1-2.00 each).
A trio of vintage floral picks (cost: 50ยข each, value: $5-6.00 each).
It was an all-around good year for vintage mercury glass garlands. I bought somewhere around 15 strands and have sold more than a dozen on eBay, most for $12.00 (cost: 50ยข-$1.00, value: $12.00).
I bought a very large lot of miscellaneous Christmas bulbs recently and learned that some of them sell well on eBay. At the moment, this set has reached the $12.00 point, and is still available at auction. I’ll let you know what the final selling price is.
Wood
A Disney wooden Pinocchio (cost: $1.00, value: $8-10.00).
A trio of wooden ornaments (cost: $1.00 for all three, value: ??). They have a certain look to them that makes me feel they might have some value, so I’ll hang onto them until I get more information.
A wooden music box that plays “Jingle Bells” (cost: $2.00, value: $18-20.00).
This little wooden village play set was made in the Erzgebirge region of Germany (cost: 50ยข, value: $40-60.00). NOTE: I included it in this Christmas post because they make great decorations for the holiday.
Children’s Books
Vintage children’s books about Christmas (cost: 25ยข each, value: $4-6.00). NOTE: The Littlest Angel sold for $12.00 on eBay.
Miscellaneous
A c.1970’s Santa candle (cost: 25ยข). I’m going to clean it up and keep it. You can learn how to clean vintage candles here.
This vintage garland is another keeper–for crafts (free).
A vintage “birch & bells” ornament (cost: 50ยข, value: $10-12.00).
A red bottle brush wreath (cost: 50ยข, value: $8-10.00). I did not have a lot of luck finding vintage bottle brush anything this year.
I have a few newer white ones that I like to decorate my ironstone with.
I don’t usually buy these kitschy c.1970’s ornaments, but I liked the pearls and the little praying boy (cost: 25ยข, value: $3-5.00).
Miss Garden Mouse with her garden tools and seeds tucked in her front pocket (cost: 25ยข, value: $5-6.00).
I hope you enjoyed taking a look at my recent vintage Christmas finds (you can see more here and here). And as always, happy hunting!

Love all your Christmas pretties! You’ve inspired me to start pulling out my decorations. ๐ – Karen
Ooh, I love it when I can be inspiring, Karen! Thanks for the visit ๐
I especially loved the little gardening mouse but I think I love ALL Christmas ornaments. We are off to go antiquing to avoid big box crowds today! Placed an on-line order for local pick-up for towels; not rewarding shopping at all!
You were wise to go antiquing on black Friday. You probably had not trouble navigating the aisles, right? Shopping on line is definitely not as fun as “real” shopping, I agree, Kathy!
Diana, I love vintage Christmas and have been collecting it for years. The little wooden village captured my heart, I had a set of those for my kids that I bought at a German gift store when they were small (they are in their 40s now). I will be working at the Antique Mall where my booth is today so that will put me in the mood to start pulling out my boxes of vintage Christmas.
My babies are older now too, otherwise I would likely have gifted it to them. It is a sweet little village. So interesting to know that you bought a similar set in Germany ๐
I also love vintage Christmas. Should have bought the nativity pieces I saw the other day. Kick myself in the butt! I think they were paper mache. But since I do not yet have a place to sell them, I left them for another lucky looker.
That happened to me the other day. I saw something I liked at Goodwill but didn’t buy it and am wishing I had ๐
Love all of these wonderful finds! Vintage garland is one of my favorite finds ever…I love to see them in jars and on the tree. Fun post!
Thanks Linda! I’ve never actually kept a set for myself, but I love the idea of displaying them in a jar–brilliant ๐
I have that little wooden German play set! Maybe I should sell it al that price…;)
So far it’s not selling at that price, Lora, LOL. I’ll let you know what ultimately happens to it ๐
Love all your vintage finds. Wish there was somewhere here that had such great pieces!
Aww, wish you did too, Vickie. Thanks for the encouragement!
Wonderful vintage finds, Diana. Hope all is well with you and your family.
Thanks Sharon! And yours as well–hope your Thanksgiving was blessed ๐
Everything is just so sweet! I love all the different ornaments you found. They seem to be popular this year in my Etsy shop.
Thanks AnnMarie–I’m so glad your shop is doing well!!
You know I ALWAYS love looking at your vintage finds, Diana! You have some good ones here. I’m interested in the little Erzgebirge wooden toys. What would I google to find more of their things? I actually have a little set almost exactly like the one you found but never knew what it was. Seems like it’s rather valuable and I’d like to know more about the company that makes them.
I think your method of keeping Christmas simple and non-stressful is right on. I have started about getting some things out to decorate but don’t have all the Fall decorations put away yet. My grandsons–twin boys, age 6–who live with me during the week are anxious to put up “their” Christmas tree so we are doing that tomorrow evening and I will do some Christmas decor next week probably, but I’m not rushing things. So take your time and enjoy whatever amount of holiday prep you enjoy!
