Hi everyone! When I became a believer (a long time ago now), I remember feeling like the lights had suddenly come on all around me, and that I was seeing the world clearly for the very first time. Cloud formations held a new fascination for me, and the awe I experienced at God’s handiwork would take my breath away at times.
Stunning sunsets made my heart feel so full that I found myself spontaneously thanking God for the breathtaking beauty that filled the skies. My heart soared at the sight of a hillside glowing with fall colors, and I sometimes felt my eyes well up with tears.
The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
God reveals himself to us in many ways. In theological terms, his speaking to us via creation is known as “general revelation.” He also reveals himself through “special revelation” or supernatural routes, like God coming to earth in the form of a man (Jesus), God inspiring a sacred book to guide us through life (the Bible), and miraculous signs and wonders.
My Father has used the glory of his creation many times over the past 30 plus years that I have walked with him, to draw me back to himself, to remind me of his love for me, to show me the vast storehouse of his riches, and to remind me that yes, he is real, and he is also wildly creative and at the same time, so very creatively loving.
With spring bursting forth here in the Northeast, I’ve been captivated by the variety of greens in our world: emerald, jade, moss, hunter, chartreuse, avocado, and olive–almost all are visible in this one landscape I shot recently. Scripture says that it is impossible to look upon creation and deny that God exists (see Romans 1:20). One who is all powerful, all knowing, and all loving made this earth and its myriad intricacies and stunning beauty–just for us. Today I am thankful for all that he is made, and I hope that you are as well.
Thanks so much for stopping by–
