Happy Valentine’s Chalkboard

Hi everyone! I couldn’t let Valentine’s Day slip by without wishing you all a happy day. I don’t do a lot of Valentine’s decorating, but Iย decided it was finally time to erase my Christmasย chalkboardย and replace it with one more appropriate for the season–the season of love.

Love Deeply Chalkboard
I chose a scripture (1 Peter 4:8) about love rather than a traditional Valentine’s saying.ย This verse about loving deeply has always meant a lot to me.

I “made” my chalkboard using a barn board frame I had on hand (picked up at a yard sale) and a 16″ x 20″ poster that fit the opening perfectly. I sprayed the poster with a coat of chalkboard spray paint, inserted it into the frame, and it was done.

I did the lettering free-hand, but found examples of fonts and decorative elements I liked by searching Pinterest.

I kept it all fairly simple, adding embellishments as I went along. I drewย the heart at the top and the arrow in the middleย last, to add some balance and to make it all a bit more Valentine-y. I hope your day is blessed and that you get the chance to love those in your life deeply, from the heart.

Thanks so much for stopping by —

  1. You do well with your lettering and I see no evidence of erasing and starting again. I’m taking a calligraphy class next Saturday. I hope it improves my writing though as I age a hand tremor becomes more pronounced and affects my writing. Challenges of life!

  2. Very nice. That is a saying that you can leave up for a while. And your artwork and font selection is perfect.

  3. I love it, Diana! You did a beautiful job with it! I love making chalkboard art…it’s fun…and free art!
    Happy Valentines Day!
