This Week’s Vintage Finds #119
Hi everyone! Even though this past week-end was filled with Easter preparation and celebration, I squeezed in a quick trip to Goodwill and the Habitat for Humanity ReStore on Friday afternoon. Lucky for me, they are right across the street from each other. Still no garage sales in my neck of the woods (and won’t be until late April, at the earliest), so I have to rely on thrift stores and the occasional estate sale to score any vintage finds. Let’s take a look at what I brought home with me, shall we?
I viewed this flower and blue bird-decorated creamer asย my personal harbinger of spring–yes, spring it here! (cost: $2.99, value: $12.00). FLASH SALE PRICE: $10.00 + SH
More reminders of spring–loving all this green. My sweet daughter collectsย “hour” glasses, so I picked the little timer up for her (cost: 39ยข).
I sell these vintage utensil trays quite quickly at my shop (cost: $1.00, value: $12.00). FLASH SALE: $9.00+SH.
I’m betting this impressionistic landscape will look terrific framed (see below for truer colors); however, it’s an odd size–8″ x 11″ (cost: $1.99, value: $20-25.00 w/o frame). FLASH SALE: $16.00.
The colors are really lovely, aren’t they?
I’ve never seen a vintage oak splint basket this size or shape before. It holds a 9″ pie plate perfectly, and for that reason, I’ll be hanging onto it for a while (cost: $1.00, value: $12-15.00).
For help determining the value of your baskets,
feel free to consult my Vintage & Antique Basket Price Guide.
Did you see the silverware box Marie at Interior Frugalista made-over into a catch-allย box? I loved the idea!
She painted the exterior and ripped out the interior. I can’t wait to get started on mine (cost: $2.99).
The ReStore was holdingย a $10.00 sale on all desks when I was in on Friday, including thisย charming keyhole desk. She’s really in pretty good shape (cost: $10.00, value: $65-85.00).
And the drawers are dove-tailed, indicating a higher qualityย manufacture.
The top is only lightly scratched. I had thought I might want to leave the top and the drawer fronts unpainted, and then paint the rest–I’ve seen that done a lot lately, but I’m going to have to have a think about that. I’ll be sure to let you know what I decide–

Lovely finds as usual. The creamer is so great. You have a great eye.

I assume you will be painting the desk?
Love that basket! And it fits a pie?! I’d be keeping it too!
The creamer and the impressionist painting are my favorites but I would keep the basket for myself too.
The small painting is my favorite. The basket may have been made to carry pie. Great finds.
Love that painting! It’s beautiful. That pink floral creamer is pretty sweet. Awesome deal on that desk!
Great finds! I especially like the vintage utensil tray – too pretty to keep in a drawer.

I love the desk, is it because the one I am working on is a total mess and I paid more than you did and yours is in good shape. Yes. It will look beautiful once you decide what to do. I also love the painting. Even if you have to pay for a custom frame it will be worth it.
Wow, I wish I could find treasures like yours at our GW. That desk is amazing and I love the sweet painting. Thanks for sharing your goodies at Talk of the Town.
What great finds! The creamer is beautiful and how great to find a basket to carry a pie. I had to call David over to our computer to show him your $10 ReStore desk. We’re floored. Our ReStore prices all furniture quite high. I don’t think we’ve ever bought furniture from there. Our son, Michael, went to college in NC and claims he shopped there and bought good stuff at reasonable prices. I can’t imagine . . .
