My Space at the Shaker Heritage Society Craft Fair
Hi everyone! As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, I set up my half table at the Shaker Craft fair yesterday afternoon. Boy, what a way to get into the Christmas spirit. Lovely ladies were setting up their booths with wonderful gift options and beautiful Christmas displays. The Shaker Meeting House is a truly lovely place to be anytime of the year, but especially at Christmas. It’s a very special, peaceful place. Today I thought I’d show you a few of the projects I made especially for the show, and then I’ll give you a peek at my “spot,” though it’s not quite finished yet (the show officially opens on Saturday, October 31st).
You all know I love vintage and I love crafting/art projects, so of course I have a ball whenever I get the chance to put the two together. Call it “mixed media” or “altared art;” I love it. I mixed new scrapbooking papers with vintage music paper, round copper doo-hickies from a recent free box, and a snippet of vintage measuring tape to create this 8″ x 8″ piece (priced at $25.00).
Here’s a close up of the small coppery round thingies. I think they make a nice embellishment.
This second mixed media piece is similar to another I created not too long ago, using a tray as the base. I brought it to the show as well ($25.00).
The sentiment are words from one of my favorite hymns, “His Eye is on the Sparrow.” (Keke Palmer sings a few lines of His Eye.)
I sell quite a lot of framed vintage flags, so I whipped a couple up, along with some framed vintage buttons in vintage frames ($15.00 each).
Some more (flag: $9.00, buttons: $5.00).
I added some flower embellishments to some of my thrifted sweater tags and brought them along ($2.00 each).
I whipped up some Christmas tags ($2.00 each).
Here’s my half a table. You might recognize some of the projects I’ve blogged about this past year (I can’t keep everything!)
I still have some primping to do and a few more things to bring over, though I have a height limit of about two feet off the table. They allowed me to fill up the space beneath the table, but I didn’t have enough merch to fill it up (that’s clever dealer slang for merchandise). I’ll report back how the show goes.
Thanks so much for stopping by!

Bye for now,
Everything looks wonderful. I really like the bird picture. Hope you sell a ton of stuff.
Very nice set up! Love your “as for my house” art.
This looks like a fun time! You have some wonderful goodies…hope you sell them all!
Nice, Diana, and best wishes for a good sale. One thing we did at our yard sale for height was to turn two small (plastic) bath waste cans upside down (on each end of our table, inside about 1′ or so), and balanced a shelf on them for our height and an entire additional row of space. It worked great, and we did on three tables. Love the stamped spoons you’ve made too.
Rita
Love the idea of using printed hymns for one of your elements. Best wishes for a successful meet!
Thanks Luann!
I am loving your display very much! I also now have a few ideas for things of mine that I didn’t know what do with! Thanks for the inspiration!
Thanks Melissa! SO glad I could be inspiring 🙂 BTW, ALL the buttons and framed flags went the first day, as did the Amazing Grace sign–woo hoo–
Your booth looks inviting. Hope you sold out.
Love the tray with your mixed media art.
Thanks Sarah, that mean’s a lot! The sale goes on for six whole weeks–amazing, right?
You set it up quite nicely! Good luck!
Thanks Rose!
This looks great! I wish I could go and shop there. I think you will sell out! Good luck.
Thanks Dianne! Selling out would be awesome 🙂
Looking good Diana … hope you sell a bunch. You have some very interesting stuff and so well staged. I love your mixed-media art, especially the bird, “I sing because I am happy”. (I wish I could sing). Gives me a idea for a gift for a friend who has a beautiful voice but I doubt that she has tried to sing very much in the last year or so because too much sadness going on in her life right now.
Good luck.
Audrey Z.
Oh, Audrey, so sad to hear about your friend. I have a larger-sized piece, with a similar bird that says, “It is well with my soul.” I’m getting ready to send it off to a sweet friend who is going through cancer treatments. Little reminders of spiritual truths and special friendship can go a long way toward giving friends some hope and good cheer. You’re a good friend 🙂
Hi Diana,
Love your space and the flag and buttons framed are so nice.
I love those plaid Christmas tags too, so cute.
Kimberley

Your space looks so inviting! Love those tags you’ve been making and the framed vintage buttons too. I’m sure your show was a huge success. Thanks, Diana, for sharing at Vintage Inspiration Party.
Hi Diana! Wow, you are very talented. I really like your mixed media pieces with all the vintage trim and the tags are my favorites. Hope you had a fantastic and successful sale. Popping over from Creative Country Mom. Jane
Everything is so sweet, but your word art is FABULOUS! xxx….Brooke
