Five Vintage Must-Reads
Hi everyone! I love it when I come across well-written and informative posts. Don’t you? Well, this week I read several and I’m passing them on because I think you’ll enjoy them as much as I did. Here are five posts that I consider “must-reads.”
If you’ve not discovered the eloquent French Garden House blog, written by serious antique collector and dealer Lidy, then you’re in for a treat. Why not start with this informative post: The Secret Life of Antiques: Tole Peinte. I found it thoroughly enjoyable and learned a lot, too.
Sharon at Blue Willow House, is my partner in crime every Thursday (8 am) when our Vintage Charm link party goes live. She’s another lover of vintage who buys and sells the treasures she finds while out thrifting and attending various sales. This week she shared some of her personal collections in the post: Vintage Collecting: What I Collect. I not only admire her post card collection, but I love them displayed on her vintage dress form.
I discovered some thoughtful tips on The Art of Collecting at A Day of Small Things. Amy has illustrated her points using photos of her own collections–love her French enameleware–but you don’t want to miss her seed packet display. Trust me.
Some people might mistakenly think that Melissa at Melissa’s Antiques is a full-time antique dealer, but she’s not. This is her side job. This gal buys and sells like a maniac, and she travels all around the country buying her wares. This week she told us all about her trip down/up US 11 Antique Alley and the finds she made along the way. How do you spell J-E-A-L-O-U-S?
Okay, so this one’s just silly, but the title made me look: Here’s What Breakfast Cereal Came Out the Year You Were Born. Mine’s Fruit Loops, what’s yours?

Bye for now,
Looking for vintage?

Our vintage link party opens tomorrow (Thursday) at 8 am–

Aw thanks for mentioning my post! I’ve got a great one about tips/tricks for traveling the world’s longest yard sale. I’ll have to bring that one out again when we get closer to Aug. 🙂
I too usually turn a shade of green when I read Melissa’s yard sale adventures! 😉 Love the dress form display and the red enamelware especially. and the seed packets of course delighted me personally because I love all things flowers and gardening! Guess cereal hadn’t been invented when I was born….. 😉
Thank you for the kind words and for sharing my post. I follow Melissa’s antiquing adventures on her blog but you shared two vintage blogs new to me. Raisin Bran is the cereal that came out the year I was born. The artwork on the Raisin Bran box is wonderful.
Well, happy 1962! That is my year too! March 6! Love your blog! Have followed it for awhile!
Love the variety!
