I celebrated Father’s Day with four wonderful dads yesterday: my dad, my husband, my brother, and one of my brothers-in-law. We spent a relaxed afternoon out on the deck, feasting on yummy appetizers and refreshing Sangrias. A special Barbie birthday party for a six-year-old niece transpired simultaneously with our Father’s Day celebration, adding to the festive feeling.
Throughout the day children from ages two to seventeen ate, swam, played basketball, enjoyed birthday presents, and generally had fun together. The adults mostly observed and caught up with one another, as you might expect. A big fish tale was told, some paintings from a Paint & Sip event were displayed, and a town-wide garage sale adventure was shared (by guess who?).
Family is precious, something I sometimes take for granted. These are the loyal, loving people who accept me as I am, take care of me when I’m in need, and are always there for me. And vice versa. Yea, it’s kinda obvious, but worth pondering and mentioning every now and again.
Bye for now,
