Yonder Farms in Troy is somewhat of a Capital District institution. With a satellight store on Albany Street in Colonie, this family run business has been in operation for over 40 years. I popped in one day to pick up some apples, which they grow in their Hudson orchards, just south of the Capital District. It’s conveniently located just down the road from Hudson Valley Community College where I drop my son off each morning.
The first thing I noticed after leaving my car was the gorgeous cabbages for sale for fall decorating. Aren’t they stunning?! I purchased one planter with four cabbages and several dusty miller for just $8. I’ve been enjoying it in a child’s rocker just outside my front door.
And just look at these sweet pumpkins–don’t you just love autumn with all of it’s rich colors and textures?
Yes, I did get my apples…eventually…a big, old bag full of Cortlands, one of my favorite apples.
