Hi everyone! I hope you had a good week-end. I did some vintage “shopping” on Friday and stayed home all day Saturday doing some things around the house, finishing the project I’m showing you today, and working on a blog “plan” for the next few months. I suddenly feel very organized. Wonder how long it will last?!! Let’s take a look at my new-to-me breadbox.
I went with the latter choice (update old) since I still like the one I’ve had for about ten years. It’s still in good shape and I like the stained glass front. And I guess I’ve been in a painting kind of mood lately; it seems like I’ve shared a lot of posts involving paint.
I’m slowly making a few improvements in the kitchen, and my orange-y breadbox was next on the list. In fact, my kitchen cupboards are a similar shade and are slated to be painted soon. I’ve put it off for a while since it felt like a scary, big step. I added crown molding and new pulls a few years ago, so those two jobs are done. But what color to choose? Paint upper and lowers different colors? My floors are a medium brown and the counter top, as you can see, is a mottled green. I’ll happily take suggestions…
Those decisions, however, are for another day. Meanwhile, I chose a medium taupe for the bread box and am happy with the result.
In fact, I think I’m going to re-paint my beverage-center tray in the same color. I had painted it black but I think I prefer this taupe.
One problem I faced with this project? Some grease spots came through my first two coats of paint. So I decided to give it a coat of polyurethane to seal the grease in. Worked like a charm.
Linking up with these great parties:
